LITTLETON — A new treasurer and assistant finance director is set to come on board in town.
The Select Board unanimously voted to appoint Sean O’Brien to the post at the board’s Oct. 5 meeting.
O’Brien is set to begin on Oct. 19.
The meeting allowed for limited in-person attendance, due to coronavirus restrictions on municipal gatherings.
O’Brien introduced himself at the meeting. He served previously as the assistant finance director for Natick for the past three years.
Before that, O’Brien worked on budget needs and operational projects for Concord. O’Brien lives in Hopkinton with his wife and their son, 4, and serves on the Hopkinton Finance Committee.
O’Brien fills the post recently vacated by Stephen Venuti. O’Brien said, “I have talked to Steve a little bit,” and said topics included maintaining the town’s good bond rating, and reviewing financial policies.
“I had the pleasure of meeting Sean…through the interview process,” said Select Board member Joseph Knox. “I thought his presentation was phenomenal.”
The town is also in the midst of seeking a new administrator, following the resignation of Nina Nazarian last August.
In accordance with the Town Charter, a search committee has been formed to vet candidates for the position.
